Democratic website raises $1 billion for candidates, causes

Online fundraising site ActBlue has passed the $1 billion mark in a fundraising campaign for Democratic candidates and causes in this election cycle, USA Today reports.

Why it matters: This is a clear illustration of some of the energy in the Democratic party for the 2018 midterms. Per USA Today, it took the site almost 12 years to first raise the same amount of money — from June 2004 to August 2016 — and it's expected to surpass $1.5 billion by the end of the year.
