Apollo makes $5.6 billion bid for LifePoint

Apollo Global Management on Monday officially submitted a $5.6 billion takeover offer, inclusive of debt, for LifePoint Health and will combine LifePoint with its other hospital chain, RCCH HealthCare Partners.

The bottom line: Reuters initially reported this transaction last week. The private equity firm expects to get deal approval by the end of the year, but LifePoint and RCCH have some hospital overlap in South Carolina that could raise antitrust concerns.
