Benchmark partner to retire from Snap board

Mitch Lasky, a partner at VC firm Benchmark, won't seek re-election to Snap's board of directors at its August shareholder meeting. He will likely be replaced by board nominee Poppy Thorpe, head of brand marketing at beauty company Glossier.

Why it matters: It's not uncommon for board members to leave at some point after a company has gone public, but The Information recently reported that CEO Evan Spiegel hasn't always been willing to listen to his board's advice. Snap has had a shaky time since going public — it's struggled with growth, an app redesign, and a declining stock price.
