Americans are split on whether they should be be concerned about consolidation in the tech, media and telecom sectors, according to a new HarrisX survey.
Why it matters: The findings come as a number of controversial deals — from AT&T's purchase of Time Warner to T-Mobile's combination with Sprint — are poised to transform the companies consumers use to access the internet.
The details:
- Many members of the public don't yet have an opinion of the T-Mobile/Sprint merger. 59% said they were waiting to learn more to determine their position on the deal.
- 22% said they supported it, and 20% said they opposed it.
Methodology: HarrisX, a market research firm, talked with 2,000 adults in the United States on May 4 and 5. That was after T-Mobile and Sprint announced their merger.
