Trump’s travel ban may win by default at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court seemed uneasy with some parts of President Trump‘s travel ban today — but equally uneasy with the implications of a broad ruling against it.

Between the lines: Several justices questioned how fairly the policy is being enforced. But they were reluctant to put too much weight behind Trump’s campaign rhetoric about Muslims — or to set a precedent of second-guessing the president‘s decisions on national security. The balance seemed to tip in the administration’s favor, but not overwhelmingly.
