The president announced in a tweet Saturday afternoon that he is considering pardoning world heavyweight boxing champion, the late Jack Johnson, after allegedly speaking with Sylvester Stallone.
The details of the arrest: The Washington Post writes, Johnson "was arrested, twice, for violating a law that made it illegal transport a white woman across state lines for any “immoral purposes” — including, under the racist strictures of Jim Crow, an interracial relationship. Johnson was convicted by an all-white jury and wound up spending a year in prison."
