Former First Lady Barbara Bush's funeral took place on Saturday in Houston, after her passing on Tuesday.
The details: Per CNN, she will be laid to rest at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas, "next to her daughter Robin, who died as a child from leukemia." Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama joined their colleagues George H.W. and George W. Bush. Hillary Clinton also attended, and First Lady Melania Trump represented the president, who is currently in Florida.
President Trump decided against attending to "avoid disruptions due to added security," CNN reported; it "is not uncommon for a sitting president" to be absent from a former First Lady's funeral. Trump tweeted on Saturday:
CNN's Kate Bennet tweeted on Saturday that Melania "personally invited George Hannie, former White House maitre d, and Buddy Carter, current White House usher -- both of whom worked for and adored Barbara Bush -- to join her on the flight to Houston so the two could attend today's memorial."
