David Apol, the acting director of the Office of Government Ethics, wrote a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency regarding recent reports about EPA chief Scott Pruitt's potential ethics violations, the New York Times reports.
Why it matters: While the OGE lacks any power to reprimand Pruitt for his actions, the optics of the government's top ethics official questioning the actions of a prominent top official is significant and could push action from the White House.
