New York City bomber sentenced to life

Ahmed Khan Rahimi, convicted of planting bombs in New York City and New Jersey in 2016 after allegedly being inspired by ISIS and al Quaeda, was sentence to life in prison Tuesday, NBC News reports.

The background: Rahimi, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Afghanistan, reportedly complained before his sentencing that he was discriminated against for being Muslim. He was found guilty of all charges connected to two explosive devices he planted in New York's Chelsea neighborhood that injured 30 people and was also accused of planting a bomb in New Jersey's Seaside Heights community the same month.
