Steve Bannon will not appear in front of the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday, despite his subpoena, CNN first reported and Axios has confirmed.
What we're hearing: A source familiar with Bannon's situation told Axios that the CNN story is accurate “except Bannon is not currently risking contempt because last night the committee agreed to delay the subpoena for another week while they try to work out proper scope of questioning with the White House.” Asked about this, a spokesman for the House Intelligence Committee declined to comment.
Statement from Communication's Director for Rep. Mike Conaway's (R-Tex.), who is leading the Committee's investigation:
“The House Intelligence Committee's interview with Stephen Bannon has been postponed at the Committee’s initiative until next week. We look forward to having him before the Committee once we can assure that he will be able to thoroughly answer all our questions without concerns regarding the scope of executive privilege.”
