Starbucks, the global retail coffee chain, is planning to add three new members to its board, according to a press release.

  • Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella
  • Sam's Club president and CEO Rosalind Brewer
  • Lego Brand Group executive chairman Jørgen Vig Knudstorp

Board member James G. Shennan, Jr. is also retiring after 27 years on the board. Shareholders will vote at the next meeting on March 22.

Tech boost: Nadella's experience at Microsoft, a global technology company, will be an obvious benefit to Starbucks, which has shown eagerness to adopt new technology. Nadella and the other nominees will also up the diversity of Starbucks' board. Women will make up 29% of the board, while 36% will be non-white.
