Mamoon Hamid is leaving venture capital firm Social Capital, which he co-founded, in order to join rival Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Axios has learned. He will focus on early-stage tech investments, with a focus on enterprise software. An official announcement is expected later today.
Why it matters: This is part of yet another shake-up for Kleiner Perkins, one of Silicon Valley's most celebrated venture capital firms, as it tries to find its next generation of leaders. And it nearly happened years earlier, when Kleiner Perkins almost acqui-hired the Social Capital partners.
Resume: Hamid has invested in, and served as a board director for, such companies as Slack, Yammer, Box and Netskope. Prior to helping launch Social Capital in 2011, Hamid spent six years with U.S. Venture Partners.
