President Trump's decision to pull the plug on payments to insurance companies helped drive Republicans to make a deal on health care, Senator Chuck Schumer told reporters today.
"When the president precipitously pulled out cost sharing, many of our Republican colleagues said 'Oh no, we don't want the consequences of this on our door step,' and it pushed them, I think, close to a deal with us ... We've been negotiating since August, and frankly after the President did what he did, the negotiations got better for us."
