In the past 24 hours there have been 20 million attempted ransomware attacks, according to analysis from Barracuda Networks. Most of the attacks have originated in Vietnam, but others are coming from India, Colombia, Turkey, and Greece, as well as several other countries.
Why it matters: The attack is growing rapidly, and recent ransomware attacks that spread around the globe proved highly destructive.
How to recognize it: It'll come as an email from a false source with a subject of "Herbalife" or something about a "copier" file delivery. Victims who pay the ransom will reportedly not receive a decryptor to break the hack.
