Microsoft wants a Geneva Convention for cybersecurity

The tech giant is urging countries to establish protections for residents from cyber attacks, as well as agreements amongst each other to not target each other's civilians, Microsoft president and chief legal officer Brad Smith wrote in a blog post on Tuesday. With the heightened threats from state-sponsored hackers, national security and digital experts are increasingly calling on governments to establish this type of frameworks.

Signal adds video calling to its encrypted messaging app: The mobile app, which already includes messaging and voice calls and is growing in popularity as a secure way to communicate, has added video calling. At the same time, it also added CallKit support to its iOS app, which while it allows for convenient features like answering calls from the iPhone's lock screen, can also compromise the app's encryption. With growing concerns around surveillance, encrypted messaging apps like Signal are increasingly popular.
