FCC Chairman Ajit Pai reiterated to the Wall Street Journal Monday that he doesn't anticipate looking at AT&T's proposed purchase of Time Warner since it looks like no FCC licenses will change hands:
"My understanding is that the deal won't be presented to the commission."
Why it matters: The FCC is able to review the deal by the broad "public interest" standard, and critics have argued it can be more susceptible to public pressure. The Department of Justice will only assess the deal's impact on the competitive market.
