Expedia CEO says he plans to take job as Uber's new chief
Dara Khosrowshahi, currently Expedia's CEO, told news outlets on Tuesday that he plans to accept the job as Uber's next chief executive. On Sunday evening, the ride-hailing company's board of directors offered him the position after a contentious search (HPE's Meg Whitman and GE's Jeff Immelt were the other finalists).
"It's definitely the opportunity of a lifetime," he told Bloomberg, adding that the company also has challenges he'll have to navigate. As for his new relationship with Uber co-founder, ex-CEO and current board member Travis Kalanick, Khosrowshahi called it "budding." "I think there's mutual respect there," he told the Wall Street Journal.
