California legislature's lower house called on Congress to "formally censure President Trump over his response to violence last month in Charlottesville," according to The Hill.

The statement:"The leader of the free world can't continue to use language that legitimizes the actions of extremist groups that promote hate...Congress must exercise its power to check the president by voting for his immediate censure."

Why it matters: Trump was heavily criticized for his response to Charlottesville that "both sides" were to blame for the clash of protestors. He signed a congressional resolution on Thursday condemning white nationalists, the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and others. In a signing statement, he did not specifically name those groups.
