Supreme Court declines challenge to California's gun waiting period

On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court refused a challenge to California's 10-day waiting period for firearms purchases, Reuters reports, which is are "intended to to guard against impulsive violence and suicides."

The backdrop: According to Reuters, the Supreme Court hasn't taken up a major firearms case since ruling in 2008 and 2010 gun that individuals have a right to own a gun for self defense. In 2017, the top court also kept in place a California law banning concealed-carry permits unless the applicant can show "good cause" for having it.
