The Trump administration will soon announce cuts to "security assistance" to Pakistan, Reuters reports, citing congressional aides with knowledge of conversations between White House officials and lawmakers. It's not yet clear how much or what type of aid will be affected.
The backdrop: The president tweeted on January 1, threatening to pull U.S. aid dollars to Pakistan because "they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools." The U.S. has sent a total of $33 billion in aid to Pakistan since 2002.
