The Syrian Army has finally broken through the three-year ISIS siege on the eastern city of Deir Al-Zour and has recaptured the Syrian Brigade 137, according to the Washington Post. Deir Al-Zour is one of the biggest Syrian cities still in the control of the militant group.
Why it matters: This is a huge step for the Syrian government and allies to retake the city. This is an important victory for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and another blow to ISIS, whose control in Syria has been waning.
