Speculation wrong: Treasury chief of staff to stay in his job

The Treasury chief of staff, Eli Miller, is remaining in his job contrary to misguided media speculation on Wednesday.

The reality: Miller, a confidant of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, is simply adding a couple of temporary positions to his existing responsibilities. The White House issued a statement this morning saying he'd be acting U.S. Director of the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development "until the positions are filled...."

Treasury's Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Tony Sayegh, tells me: "Eli Miller continues to serve in his role as Treasury Chief of Staff, and accepts these additional responsibilities of Acting Director in order to ensure that Treasury is represented at the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development."
