Andrew Kovacs has joined SoftBank, after having spent the past six years leading communications for Sequoia Capital.
Why it matters: SoftBank is disrupting venture capital, and now has snared one of Sand Hill Road's top messengers.
There also has been talk that Sequoia is, in part, increasing the target on its next global fund as a way to avoid being steamrolled by SoftBank on promising deals (including follow-on rounds for existing portfolio companies). Perhaps the competition isn't only for investments, but also for talent.
Prior to joining Sequoia, Kovacs worked in communications for Google.
