Russia deploys new missile in violation of 1987 treaty

The NYT reported today that Russia has deployed a new intermediate-range cruise missile in violation of a 1987 treaty with the United States.
Political implications: As the Times notes, it'll now be extremely difficult for the White House to get the Senate on board with any new arms treaties with Russia — especially involving nuclear weapons — as long as Russia remains in violation.
Geopolitical implications: NATO nations might be one of the targets of this new missile, which is dicey given President Trump's previous statements on the alliance. The former NATO commander warned last year that this missile's deployment would be something that "can't go unanswered."
