Rocket Lab launches U.S. military satellites into space

Rocket Lab launched 3 experimental satellites into space for the Defense Department Sunday.

Details: The Electron rocket lifted off at 2 a.m. ET from the company's New Zealand launch pad. The launch came hours after Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket, which sent an unpiloted Dragon cargo capsule into orbit with supplies for the International Space Station's crew.

Hundreds gathered in Raeford, North Carolina to honor George Floyd, whose death in Minneapolis nearly two weeks ago has sparked nationwide protests against police brutality.

The state of play: This is the second memorial for Floyd. A number of his family members remain in Raeford, including his sister. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, The News and Observer reports.
