Longtime Republican donor Foster Friess, 78, has reportedly told party leaders that he plans to run for governor of Wyoming, Politico's Daniel Strauss reports, noting that Friess plans to make an official statement at the Wyoming Republican Party's convention on Friday.
The backdrop: Friess is a Wyoming-based investor who became very wealthy from mutual funds. He drew national attention in 2012 after donating millions to a super PAC supporting former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum's campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.
