Global production giant Fremantle has reached a deal to acquire Asacha Media Group from Oaktree Capital Management, the company announced this morning.

Why it matters: The deal will add eight more production companies in Europe to Fremantle's growing roster.

Details: The deal includes three companies in France, three in the U.K. and two in Italy.

  • Financial terms were not disclosed.
  • Asacha will continue to be led by Gaspard de Chavagnac, co-founder and CEO, who will now report to Andrea Scrosati, Fremantle's group COO and CEO for continental Europe.
  • Asacha's eight production labels will continue to report to de Chavagnac.

Of note: Fremantle says that its existing businesses in France, Italy and the U.K. won't be affected by this deal.

Zoom out: The Asacha deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Fremantle as it contends with fellow global production giant Banijay Group.

  • Fremantle's investments in recent years include Ireland-based Element Pictures (producer of Oscar hopeful "Poor Things"), U.K.-based Dancing Ledge Productions and 72 Films, Italy's Lux Vide and Los Angeles-based Fabel Entertainment.
