๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ Hello, Wednesday! It's Laura, thinking about how Justin Timberlake snubbed Charlotte in his upcoming "Forget Tomorrow" tour.

๐ŸŒง Weather: Early rain but sunshine in the afternoon. High of 51ยฐ.

๐ŸŽ‚ Happy birthday to our Axios Charlotte members Pamela Green and Kelly Gardner!

If the cold weather makes you crave a trip to the movies (same), you're in the right place, Axios' McKenzie Rankin writes.

State of play: Charlotte has lost several beloved movie theaters in the past few years, including the Manor Theatre, Regal Phillips Place and Regal Cinebarre Arboretum.

Yes, but: Others like the Independent Picture House have popped up in their place.

  • Movie-going in Charlotte and beyond remains a popular pastime despite the industry's challenges.

What's happening: We've created a guide to 11 of Charlotte's movie theaters โ€” from the cozy locally owned spots to the well-known chains.

  • This guide includes everything to know before you head out, like ticket prices, discounts and amenities (hello, reclining seats) โ€” all listed in no particular order.

2. ๐ŸŸ Charlotte's oldest stadium

Before Bank of America Stadium, Spectrum Center or even the old Charlotte Coliseum, there was American Legion Memorial Stadium, Axios' Ashley Mahoney writes.

Why it matters: Charlotte's oldest stadium is a beloved piece of the city's history. It has seen everything from concerts to political rallies, plus festivals and sporting events.

What's happening: This year, two new professional sports teams will call Memorial Stadium home and share it with the Charlotte Independence minor league soccer team.

Billy Sunday will turn into a Valentine's-themed pop-up starting tomorrow through Feb. 28, McKenzie writes.

What's happening: The "My Bloody Valentine" pop-up is a twisted take on Valentine's Day โ€” think Valentine's Day meets Halloween.

  • There'll be themed cocktails like the "'Til Death Do Us Part," served smoked with pineapple rum and Aperol, and the "Bleeding Heart," made with vodka, grenadine, lemon and Sprite.
  • To snack on, there'll be a meatball parfait with pork beef and veal meatballs ($8) and a flourless chocolate cake ($13).

Details: The pop-up hours are Monday-Thursday 5-10pm, Friday 4pm-midnight, Saturday noon-midnight and Sunday noon-10pm.

5. ๐Ÿ˜ด N.C. is sleepy

๐Ÿ˜ด Share of adults getting fewer than seven hours of sleep per night, on average
Data: Apple Heart and Movement Study; Map: Alice Feng/Axios

Most U.S. adults aren't getting enough sleep, Axios' Carly Mallenbaum writes.

Why it matters: At least seven hours of sleep nightly is recommended for the average adult.

  • Fewer than seven hours, and studies suggest you could be more at risk for health concerns like stroke.

By the numbers: Americans get less than six and a half hours a night on average, according to a study that tracked the sleep of Apple Watch users from February to June 2022.

  • About 69% of North Carolinians are getting fewer than seven hours of sleep per night on average.

6. ๐Ÿˆ Wake up like the Stewarts

We're back with another look at how influential people in Charlotte spend their mornings.

Context: McKenzie recently spoke with former Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart and his wife Natalie about their new venture: A WCCB show about local small businesses called "Lately."

She asked the couple what they typically have for breakfast.

"If anyone wants to know what Jonathan's post-career is [like], he is eating steak (that he's up grilling at 6am) and making at-home matcha lattes for himself."

  • Natalie added that she usually has some of that steak and whatever is leftover from making her daughters' lunches, "like the crust of a PB&J."
