Migrants who tried to reach Europe are being auctioned off as slaves in Libya according to a CNN report that includes video of a slave auction in which men are sold for about $400 each. After receiving the video, CNN spent months authenticating it and investigating further. The video, published last week, has sparked protests.in Africa and Europe.

  • What's happening: Travel by migrants has been significantly restricted by the Libyan coastguard, leaving smugglers with a "backlog of would-be passengers on their hands." Some of these migrants are auctioned off to people seeking laborers.

Tony Hsieh, longtime Zappos CEO, dies at 46

Tony Hsieh, the longtime ex-chief executive of Zappos, died on Friday after being injured in a house fire, his lawyer told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was 46.

The big picture: Hsieh was known for his unique approach to management, and following the 2008 recession his ongoing investment and efforts to revitalize the downtown Las Vegas area.
