The entire police force of Ocampo, a town in Mexico, has been detained over suspicions that it was involved in the murder of a mayoral candidate, per the BBC.
The big picture: More than 100 politicians running for election in Mexico have been killed in the buildup to the country’s elections next month, and the violence doesn’t appear to be slowing down. The problem is larger than politics — murders are spiking across Mexico more generally.
