🚲 D.C. scrapped plans for a protected bicycle lane on a 2.7-mile stretch of upper Connecticut Avenue NW, a contentious proposal that had been delayed for over a year.

  • The new director of the District Department of Transportation, Sharon Kershbaum, told the D.C. Council yesterday that the thoroughfare will still be redesigned for other safety improvements and that parking lanes will remain, one of the sticking points for neighborhood businesses.

📈 Capital Bikeshare usage, meanwhile, had its best March ever with 433,000 rides taken. This year over half of bikeshare trips have been on an e-bike. (@bikeshare)

🚨 Opioid overdose deaths hit a record high last year, a new D.C. government report found. There were 518 opioid-related deaths in 2023, up 12% from the previous year. (WTOP)
