As many readers hightail it to cabins and resorts this holiday weekend, we decided to re-up this map we made in 2021 about where "up north" begins.
How it works: We got responses from dozens of readers on this highly controversial topic and tried to build a consensus boundary.
- The line we drew runs from Hinckley to Mille Lacs Lake to Alexandria.
Yes, but: Not everyone agreed, with many suggesting that the true line should be where the trees turn from mostly deciduous to mostly coniferous (evergreen), or where you begin to pick up classic rock station Power Loon's radio signal.
Our favorite response came from reader Alyssa: "Up north is an attitude, not a latitude."
