X Shore, a still-small Swedish boat company, has established a logistics base in Sarasota and is looking to expand manufacturing of its all-electric boat into parts of the U.S., the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.
And why not? Boat builders like Yellowfin, Chris-Craft, and Wellcraft all have roots in Sarasota.
What to expect: The company says its new Eelex 8000 is made from recycled materials and operates via touchscreen, smart watch and phone app.
- It has a built-in "Sea Lab" that delivers environmental data, and is equipped for auto-docking with a tech upgrade.
- With a 225 kW motor and a 120 kWh battery capacity, the 26-foot vessel will reach 35 knots with a cruising speed of 20 knots.
- It has a range of 100 nautical miles at lower speeds.
But, but, but: Bring your wallet. Or, rather, prep a wire transfer. The most basic package starts around $300,000, but it's still fun to dreamily design your own.
