University of South Florida students will actually walk across a stage this spring.

Why it matters: A big university going with in-person ceremonies is a meaningful shift toward normalizing public events.

  • Many local high schools chose in-person ceremonies, but the University of Tampa went virtual and St. Petersburg College chose a hybrid version.

Ceremonies are tentatively scheduled for May 7-9 at Tropicana Field, where approximately 7,000 grads will each be allowed two guests.

  • Live streaming will be available for those who can’t be there in person.
