The end of the NBA regular season is rapidly approaching and the Warriors are jockeying for their final position in the postseason.

State of play: Golden State, currently the 10th seed in the West, is locked into the Play-In tournament, but there's still time for the Dubs to secure a more favorable spot within it.

How it works: Teams in the Eastern and Western conferences are seeded No. 1-15. The six teams with the best record in each conference are guaranteed a playoff spot.

  • Teams seeded No. 7-10 have to play their way in for the final two spots.

Zoom in: There are three games in the Play-In tournament, which begins April 16.

  • One is a battle between the No. 7 and 8 seeds, with the winner of that game getting the seventh spot in its respective conference. The losing team, however, gets one more chance.
  • The other is a game between the No. 9 and No. 10 teams, in which the losing team will see its season come to an end and the winner will face the loser of the No. 7 versus No. 8 game.
  • Whichever team wins that final matchup will get the eighth and final spot in its conference playoffs.

Between the lines: While it's mathematically possible for the Dubs to claim as high as the 7th seed, Golden State has the highest probability (56%) of claiming the ninth seed, according to Playoffstatus.com.
