Grand County is home to the highest share of people with Irish ancestry in Utah, according to census data.

By the numbers: Almost 19% of residents in 2022 in the rural county claimed in 2022 they had Irish heritage, compared to nearly 6% statewide and 9.5% nationally.

  • About 6% of Salt Lake County residents said they had Irish ancestry.

Context: Irish immigrants were among Utah's early European settlers, according to a historian at the Utah Department of Culture and Community Engagement.
