State of play: The revamped 15th Street Community Fridge outside Studio Two Three, unveiled last week, now features a deep freezer, a motion-lit pantry and a lot more space.

• The pantry also offers free naloxone, the opioid reversal drug, and fentanyl test strips.
• And it's already been emptied, a pattern that founder Taylor Scott has said is usual for the fridges within hours of being stocked.

How it works: The fridges — many of which are located in food deserts — are open 24/7 and anyone can either take food or leave donations of unopened items.

• People can also sign up to help clean or restock any of the fridges and take part in a Community Cook Day to prepare more food for the fridges.

What we're watching: RVA Community Fridges, which has been around since January 2021, hinted on its Instagram that more makeovers, "and even some additions," are on the way.
