M Hansik, the latest restaurant from the popular M Restaurants group, will open on June 19.
Why it matters: M Hansik promises to be a modern taken on traditional cuisine of Korea, the birthplace of its chef Michael Lee, who gained notoriety for his flagship restaurant M Sushi.
Zoom in: M Hansik will open in the former Plum Southern Kitchen space at the Shops at Wye Junction in Durham, which is already home to spots like Atomic Clock Brewing, Timber Pizza and Bull City Running.
The 54-seat restaurant will have limited seating until its grand opening June 24.
What to expect: The initial menu has been posted and features dishes ranging from kimchi dumplings and Pyongyang naengmyeon (a cold noodle dish from North Korea) to galbi (marinated short ribs) and desserts like hotteok (a pancake with brown sugar filling).
