Congratulations to reader Mike M., who was the first person to give us the correct location of Friday's "Where in the Valley?" feature.

  • The brightly painted water riser and SRP well site is on Thomas Road, just west of 82nd Street.

The big picture: The mural, which went up last month, is called "A Gathering Place" and was painted by local artist Shela Yu.

  • Yu is one of three artists commissioned by the nonprofit Scottsdale Arts to put up temporary works around the city.
  • "A Gathering Place" will stay up for two years, while sculptures from two other artists will be displayed for one year, Scottsdale Arts spokesperson Sydney Ritter tells Axios.
  • The program continues the work of IN FLUX, a temporary public art program that recently ended after a 10-year run.

Zoom in: "'A Gathering Place' celebrates the mutual necessity for water between people, plants, and animals," according to a plaque on the mural.

  • Yu was inspired by the continued modern development of the Hohokam canal system.
