Meet Taki, a 3-year-old pit mix and one of the Arizona Animal Welfare League's longest visitors.

The big picture: Taki has been at the Phoenix shelter for 656 days and AAWL is on a mission to find his fur-ever home this month.

Between the lines: Taki struggles to control his barking when new people approach his kennel, and that has turned off potential adopters, AAWL said.

Yes, but: Volunteers say he's "loving, loyal, one of a kind [and] goofy" once you get to know him.

  • He loves hiking, pup cups and cuddles.

Zoom in: Interested adopters can meet Taki at AAWL's main shelter.

  • His adoption fee has been sponsored by a donor, so if it's a match, you can take him home for free!
