The National WWII Museum on Thursday will commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Why it matters: The attack on Pearl Harbor led the U.S. to finally enter the war.

  • New Orleans played a crucial role in the war effort, especially during D-Day.

What's happening: The museum's free ceremony is at 11:45am Thursday at the U.S. Freedom Pavilion. It will be streamed online as well.

  • G.R. "Rocky" Gillette is the special guest and works with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. He will talk about the group's efforts to locate and identify military personnel who died while serving.
