Indianapolis Zoo officials are warning residents about an 80th-anniversary phishing scam targeting the Indy Zoo and other facilities nationwide.

Driving the news: Indianapolis Zoo leaders took to X, Instagram and Facebook this week to report that they were still getting a number of inquiries about a scam promising 200 lucky people the chance to get four tickets for just $6.95 in honor of the zoo turning 80.

Reality check: The Zoo opened at its original East 30th Street location on April 18, 1964, making it just a few weeks shy of turning 60.

Zoom out: According to the Indianapolis Zoo, other zoos and aquariums across the country are being targeted with the same fake offer.

The bottom line: The Indy Zoo isn't 80 and isn't running any kind of ticket promotion right now. So don't fall for the fakes.
