Iowans are die hard college sports fans and Saturday's Cy-Hawk game is expected to be an especially hot matchup as both teams are nationally ranked for the first time ever.

State of play: AP lists the Hawkeyes at #10 after handily defeating the Indiana Hoosiers. The Cyclones sit at #9 following a 16-10 win against UNI.

  • Plus: ESPN's "College GameDay" is returning, only boosting the hype and visibility of our athletic teams.

How to watch: The game is sold out, but you can count on every bar with a TV to have it on at the 3:30pm kickoff.

  • It'll air on ABC, or cord-cutters can stream via ESPN. (If you use Mediacom, your options are limited.)

If you're stuck in Des Moines this weekend, here are some creative ways to take part in the rivalry:

Friday

🔴 Taste Hawkeye or Cyclone ice cream at Black Cat Ice Cream.

🟡 Hop on your bike for a Cy-Hawk tailgate bike ride.

⚫ Laugh at some Cyclone vs. Hawkeye improv comedy at Teehee's Comedy Club. Pre-game with bags and beer pong at 4pm.

Saturday

🟡 Play some Iowa football bingo and join an Iowa vs. Iowa State stein-hoisting contest at Smash Park.

🔴 Watch the game at the drive-in movie theater at Valley West Mall.

🟡 It's a bar divided — sit with the Hawkeyes or the Cyclones at The Hall during the game.

⚫ Kinship Brewing in Waukee is serving special red/gold and black/gold "House Divided Kinship United" beer.
