👋 Sam here. I found myself in Richfield over the weekend, watching my sister in Moliere's "The Miser" at Western Reserve Playhouse.

  • The modest on-site bar included some local specialties.

Beer of the week: Killer Fog, a New England-style hazy IPA from Akron's Lock 15 Brewing Co.

State of play: Fruity and herbal, this 7.5%-ABV IPA is served in a 16-ounce can and can sneak up on you.

  • It was recommended to me by a bartender who confessed she didn't care for IPAs — but still enjoyed Killer Fog.
  • It's one of Lock 15's year-round offerings.

The intrigue: The beer is named for a plague that broke out in summer of 1826 in the Akron area while canal laborers were dredging Summit Lake.

The latest: Earlier this year, Lock 15 was acquired by Middleburg Heights-based The Brew Kettle.
