Baseball's youngest stars enter the spotlight this week during MLB's Spring Breakout.

Why it matters: The series of 16 exhibitions features rosters with each team's top minor-league prospects, so Guardians fans will get their best look yet at the brightest up-and-comers who will play a big role for a club that has one of the lowest payrolls in the league.

The intrigue: Cleveland's biggest concern last season was a lack of offense, which Spring Breakout outfielder Chase DeLauter and first baseman Kyle Manzardo have impressed with during spring training.

  • Both have a good shot at making Cleveland's major league roster this season.

Between the lines: Other prospects to watch for include 18-year-old switch-hitting outfielder Jaison Chourio and left-handed Akron RubberDucks pitcher Doug Nikhazy, whose fastball approaches 99 mph.

What's next: The team's Spring Breakout roster will face the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05pm Saturday at Goodyear Ballpark in Arizona.

How to watch: Saturday's game is available with a subscription to MLB Digital (MLB.TV, MLB.com, MLB App) or listen free via CLEguardians.com.
