The North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation on Friday debuted the newly renovated restaurant at Mount Mitchell State Park, which 50 years ago was named a National Natural Landmark.

Symphony Park is hosting the Queen City Cooler Fest today from 2:30-9pm. Be sure to pack your picnic baskets and coolers with drinks and snacks. Tickets start at $35.

Anne Springs Close Greenway is back with its Summer Concert Series every Thursday evening May through July, featuring live music, a food truck and drinks for purchase. It takes place from 6-9pm at the Comporium Amphitheater at the Dairy Barn entrance.

  • Cost: $7 per adult, $5 for kids ages 5-12. Members and children 4 and younger are free. $5 parking per vehicle.

The summer concert series at The Amp Ballantyne will take place June 13, July 11 and Aug. 8.

  • Cost: $10. Kids 5 and under are free.
