I tried to think of a way to romanticize this economic development news but fell short, so I'll give it to you straight:

Siemens Energy will expand its North Carolina presence by adding 559 jobs across Mecklenburg and Wake counties, Axios' Ashley Mahoney reports.

  • Plus, the energy technology company is establishing its first U.S. power transformer manufacturing facility at its Steele Creek area location.

Why it matters: Siemens Energy is expected to invest a total of $149.8 million into the project statewide.

  • North Carolina will provide nearly $10 million in incentives over 12 years to Siemens Energy if the company meets its hiring and investment targets.

The intrigue: The average salary for new positions in Mecklenburg County will be $87,036.
