Uptown Yolk returns with a pop-up this weekend
Uptown Yolk will have a pop-up in South End this weekend.
You can head to Wildroots Coffee at 1430 Winnifred St. on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 10am-1pm for breakfast.
State of play: Uptown Yolk, the breakfast-focused spot from chef Greg Collier and his wife and business partner Subrina, will move into a permanent brick-and-mortar spot in the Vantage South End building at the intersection of Carson Boulevard and Tryon Street this spring.
Menu: At the pop-up, you’ll find an assortment of breakfast sandwiches.
- An egg & cheese sandwich on cornmeal brioche with soufflé eggs and cheddar cheese for $8.
- A sorghum candied bacon, egg and pimento cheese sandwich on cornmeal brioche with soufflé eggs, pimento cheese and smoked candied bacon for $10.
- A beef sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on cornmeal brioche with soufflé eggs, cheddar cheese and house-made beef sausage for $11.
Details: You can place a preorder online here. Scroll to the bottom for the pop-up menu.
Why it matters: The Colliers are among Charlotte’s most influential people. The restaurateurs and entrepreneurs work to amplify the Black experience locally and nationally. Greg has once again been nominated for a James Beard Award, and he’s come closer to earning the award than any other Charlotte chef.
Flashback: Uptown Yolk closed its space at The Market at 7th St. in early 2021, and later announced plans to open a full-service restaurant in South End. The breakfast spot originally opened in Rock Hill in 2012 before moving to Uptown in 2019.
