New beer garden in the works for South End

Details are scarce — but a new beer garden appears to be on the way to South End. And some big names are already behind the project.

City records show that a beer garden project is set for 1300 South Tryon Street. This is just a few blocks south of Midnight Diner.

This property was successfully rezoned this spring to change it from industrial use to transit-oriented mixed use. Prominent Charlotte developer White Point Partners led the rezoning.

The beer garden project is now being shepherded by Urban Design Partners, the city records show. This is the firm that’s done design work for Mac’s Speed Shop, Elevation Church, QuikTrip and the Mosaic South End apartments. They’re now working with White Point Partners on Tompkins Hall.

We’ll bring you more details on this project as they become available.
