An Italian restaurant is coming to Uptown

Joining Flight, Lucky’s and The Imperial at North Side Station is Tavolo — a family style Italian restaurant that will be opening its doors very soon.

Located at 6th and College (where Cosmo’s used to be), Tavolo is a completely redone space that has utilized some elements of Cosmo’s (the cool stone at the entrance and the upstairs), while completely transforming the space.

Before we touch on upstairs, let me tell you about down.

The bar is expansive, giving plenty of seats for the lunch crowd on the go, but also the dinner crowd that enjoys sitting at the bar (myself included). The space is gigantic and there will even be a private room that can be rented out for events.

There are plenty of “large party” tables as well as a chefs table that will be a focus in 2017. The decor is inviting and gives off an upscale vibe without being stuffy about it. My favorite table is located under the staircase that leads upstairs.

So about this upstairs. It will act as its own separate entity and be more of a lounge focusing on wine and casual vibes.

Go up here to get a glass of wine, actually hear the people across from you talking, listen to good music and enjoy a bit of the privacy that the space provides. Stay tuned as we take you upstairs in a later story.

The menu is filled with traditional Italian items and with Italian being my favorite type of food, I couldn’t be happier.

The meatballs are GIGANTIC and compliment the dish nicely. Look for the variety of risotto dishes they offer as they are certainly going to change the way you look at risotto.

The authentic wood fired grill is delivering some top-of-the-line pizza (hard for me to like pizza down here being from the North, but man this is some good stuff). I got to try the margherita and pepperoni pizza and on the first bite you could tell this thing was wood fired. The crust was perfectly cooked and the giant pepperonis were a nice touch.

Furthermore, everything is made in house from the sauces to the pasta and ravioli. There will be an extensive wine list to compliment a classic cocktail menu as well.

Don’t miss the Golden Cow-made gelato as well. Love when two local places collab to make magic.

Tavolo is adding a big boost to Uptown’s restaurant repertoire and most definitely makes North Side Station a one stop shop.

Jason, this place looks and sounds amazing, when can I check it out? Well, I will tell ya… sooner than you may think. They will be opening their doors this weekend for a round of sneak preview events (aka soft openings to get everything just right). They are taking reservations and are booking events for their great private space.
